So that the story makes sense----30 pesos is really cheep haircut, 50 normal, 70 would be really good. Monday we got 120 peso haircuts, Or at least that's the price on the signs in the shop. There is a less active lady who is studying and working to become a hair stylist. She asked us to be models to use for practice so it was free. There was a different student that was doing the cutting, and an instructor that was watching him saying things like, what happened here? What is this? Remember slowly lift the scissors and don't close them all the way. Stay to my right and I'll show you how to do it. I don't think I've ever seen so much fuss over how to cut hair, but I for sure learned a lot. and it turns out my mom did a very professional job of it at home.
We have been working a lot with Agustin and his little siblings. They were going to come to church but their mom got sick and they couldn't leave. Agustin is trying to stop smoking and we will see if his little siblings have problems with that stuff. He's only 16 but his mom works a whole lot and he is helping to raise his little siblings.
We have also had some very good experiences with finding new investigators. We fasted this Sunday and right now we have 3 new people who accepted to be baptized according to what God tells them to do. One of them is married (that's a big deal here) and has her family the other one is a 19 year old girl that had some good questions about the church and that is very very short. The other is an older lady that lives with her family and she is very willing to do the will of God. We are excited for them and if we can have a good next lesson with them I'll let you know more details.
One of the members in a different ward surprised us the other day. He called us while we were writing last week and said hey you guys visited my friend when are you going back? I'm going to come with you. We had gotten a name from the sisters and we went by the house. The Dad talks 10000 words a minute and never stops. The kids are all bigger and very friendly and now they have a friend in the church. We were able to visit them and teach the father and daughters with the member from the other ward. It was a good experience for all of us and the testimonies of the members helped out a lot.
We also had the opportunity to do divisions with some Elders from a city in Formosa, and a different time with 2 members. I was with an Elder Dangelo and he is a recent convert from a little more than a year an a half ago and has a powerful testimony. I was also able to work with Lucus a return missionary when we did the divisions. working with members is really helpfull they connect with the people so much easier and having 2 companionships in the area helps a ton.
I know that Christ lives. That he loves us and that he is willing to forgive us when we are in need. His Gospel has been restored to help those that need it, to heal the repentant sinners and help us know what to do to have joy in this life and eternal life in the world to come. It is as simple as it was when Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness. We are invited to look unto Christ and live.
Elder Dallin Skouson
