Fun things that happened this week.
The other Elders in the branch 1 has 6 months one has 5 days They called me in 3 times in the middle of a lesson so I knew it was serious. I asked them what was up and they said we need to get in touch with the branch president now and we can't call him. We got out of the lesson and found out in the end they were in a members house and the members went to open the door then slammed it shut just in time to keep someone out, they were threatening and yelling and pushing on the door. In the end the branch president called a brother that lives close by who went over and the 2 robbers were scared of him apparently so the Elders were able to walk out fine. The Lord for sure protected those missionaries.
Today the same Elders went out to buy some bread and soda for lunch and 2 guys got on either side of them and patted them down. they took all the stuff they had. We ate lunch without bread.
We almost got robbed but the guy got scared when he realized that he was 4' 6'' and I'm 6' 5'' he said give me the phone then looked us up and down and said you don't have anything and ran away.
I would usually not tell you these stories but they are fine now because we're leaving so you won't be too scared for me. President knows what's up and is praying for us and looking to protect us. He prayed and took the decision to send us all to other areas.
We saw some miracles as well. One night we were kinda stranded by the apartment without more plans. we stopped and prayed and we sought guidance from the Lord. We went to the big street around the block and contacted a house. the woman came out and accepted us in. We taught the restoration and she accepted the message well and seems like a very good potential investigator. The Lord guided us to them and many others that we needed to teach this week.
We have also been working hard with Alejandra and she has been progressing a lot. she came to church with her kids and wants to be baptized. We are for sure hoping the new Elders will be able to pick up where we left off.
until next week.
Elder Dallin Skouson
After asking Dallin some questions about what was going on, here is his response:
So what happened in the members home is that at about 630. the missionaries went to leave. they had just finished the message and were headed out the member went to open the door because they also heard a clap outside. they then had to slam the door and force it closed over someone trying to push it in on them. There were 2 or 3 guys that were trying to break in. they just camped outside afterword for a while. within about 30 or 45 minutes though the branch president had gotten in contact with the member who came and just knocked the door and the Elders walked out with him. I guess the robbers were not brave enough to come out while the other member was there.

My companion is from Brigham City and he is adapting well. He is a very good missionary and speaks Spanish a lot better than he thinks. He teaches well.
They replaced the 4 of us with a trio. I don't think they were targeting missionaries but I do think they target people from other countries that look like they might have money...
it's kinda just a tough part of the city. 2 blocks from the apartment there is a neighborhood where I didn't even feel safe in the day time and we for sure never left with a bag on. we would go out without watches and without bags and they still rob us.
Alejandra lives about 2 or 3 blocks from where we almost got robbed. the new missionaries have found her as well.
It's in Corrientes in the middle of no where. it's a lot bigger than campo largo (there is a real grocery store and we live in one of only 2 buildings with 3 or more floors and there are stop lights at some places) but it's still a small city in the middle of no where.
